Cycling Support Service for Universities
and Colleges
Colleges and Universities are increasingly aware of the number of
traffic movements they generate, the need to be a good neighbour and
the government’s ever louder health messages.
Our Get Cycling Support Service (GCSS) is a mobile unit, staffed by
student-friendly experts, bringing a variety of information handouts,
appealing publications, examples of cycling accessories and, of course,
cycles, which anyone on campus can try out. Staff and students can
have their own bike attended to by our ‘bicycle doctor’
service, and be shown some basic maintenance tips. We supply a customised
publicity poster before the event, and can, on the day of our visit,
put an eye-catching static publicity display into the student’s
union cafeteria.
This service becomes more cost-effective, and has a higher publicity profile if we come for a run of two or three days at once, to a central location on campus. Alternatively bookings involving a run of regular days (eg the first Friday in the month), create a pattern in students’ minds.
You may also wish to consider a Cycle 50% Club for your staff, or cycle training sessions. We can also look at the application of pedal-power generally on your campus.
